Longevity toxicity after chronic α -endosulfan exposure in wild population of Drosophila melanogaster Oregon-R (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

چکیده

The rapid increase in the world population causes different problems such as nutrition and shelter. In this case, people brutally destroy arable land to shelter, concretization is rapidly spreading. addition, it necessary amount of products be taken from limited agricultural areas for food needs increasing population. decrease appears a factor that reduces product unit area. weeds especially insects reduce yield, storage, marketing quality obtained restricted areas. This type plant can also considered disease carrier vector chain. To various insecticides have been developed against target organisms one these α-endosulfan. However, non-target living same ecosystem affected by all insecticides.
present study, was researched whether chronic α-endosulfan application has an effect on longevity organisms. According data obtained, shortened maximum mean lifespan both male female populations Oregon-R wild strain Drosophila melanogaster based dose-time interaction. shortening observed life span statistically significant (p

Toxicological Evaluation of a New Lepidopteran Insecticide, Flubendiamide, in Non-Target Drosophila melanogaster Meigen (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

Background: Flubendiamide, comparatively a new pesticide designed to eradicate lepidopteran insect pests is known to have low risk to birds, mammals, fish, algae, honey bees, non-target arthropods, earthworms, soil macro- and micro-organisms, non-target plants as well as sewage treatment organisms; however, the risk assessment for aquatic invertebrates from metabolite could not be finalized wit...

Malathion Resistance in Drosophila melanogaster (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

Malathion resistance developed in a Drosophila melanogaster population that has been exposed to malathion for almost 20 years. Genetic analyses showed that malathion resistance in this population is under control of several genes that are located on the first, second and third chromosome. The second chromosome contributes the most to resistance; the factor(s) involved may be (partly) dominant o...

Exposure to endosulfan influences sperm competition in Drosophila melanogaster

Dwindling male fertility due to xenobiotics is of global concern. Accordingly, male reproductive toxicity assessment of xenobiotics through semen quality analysis in exposed males, and examining progeny production of their mates is critical. These assays, in part, are biased towards monogamy. Females soliciting multiple male partners (polyandry) is the norm in many species. Polyandry incites sp...

Non-Nutritive Polyol Sweeteners Differ in Insecticidal Activity When Ingested by Adult Drosophila melanogaster (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

Previous work showed the non-nutritive polyol sweetener Erythritol was toxic when ingested by Drosophila melanogaster (Meigen, 1930). This study assessed whether insect toxicity is a general property of polyols. Among tested compounds, toxicity was highest for erythritol. Adult fruit flies (D. melanogaster) fed erythritol had reduced longevity relative to controls. Other polyols did not reduce ...
